I/O & Stern Drive

Winterization For I/O And Stern Drive Boats

I/O and stern drive engines are winterized with the same goal as any other engine going into storage for the season, protecting the cooling system, the fuel system, and the engine itself from cold-weather damage. That means draining raw water from the cooling system and replacing it with antifreeze where required, so nothing is left behind to freeze and crack a block or manifold.

The fuel system is also stabilized ahead of storage, and a general inspection of the engine and drive is performed so any issues can be flagged before storage rather than discovered as a surprise next season.
